What's Going On
Are you concerned about the rotary and overpass at the BU Bridge? Extreme traffic congestion -- an everyday occurrence -- compromises our ability to travel by car or bus, while speeds, traffic volumes, and poor, obsolete roadway design threaten our safety when we try to travel by any mode.
We have a rare opportunity to make improvements in the vicinity of the rotary and the overpass. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has allocated $51 million of federal transportation funding -- our tax dollars -- to reconfigure the overpass. We are working to expand this conversation to look at the entire rotary area and to ensure we don't miss the chance to rethink this design.

The BU Bridge Safety Alliance is hosting an important meeting on the BU campus where we will discuss plans to keep people safe on the BU Bridge corridor. So far MassDOT and the Boston Transportation Dept have accepted our invitation to present their detailed plans, and we are sure DCR will follow suit. We have also invited elected officials (many of which have already confirmed their attendance), members of the press (StreetsblogMass will be there and we are sure others), fellow advocates and the general public to attend. All are welcome to attend.
